Square Enix hasn't credited Luminous Productions on any further projects until Forspoken.Square Enix has unveiled a new story trailer and official Spring 2022 release window for Luminous Productions’ Forspoken game. However, its work on that game largely got redirected to a novel, Final Fantasy XV: The Dawn of the Future, after director and studio head Hajime Tabata left Luminous Productions before completing all the DLCs. The developer initially formed the new studio to help produce Final Fantasy XV and DLCs. Takeshi Aramaki and Takefumi Terada direct Forspoken, the first title from Luminous Productions, an internal studio at Square Enix. Frey slowly gains a combination of attack and support magic as the game progresses, including the fire-blasting powers seen in the latest cinematic trailer. Forspoken unusually puts that genre into a sizeable open-world game with narrative-driven gameplay, with the bulk of the story centering on Frey's journey to uncover Athia's secrets as she tries to find a way home. Square Enix's Forspoken sees Frey transported to a mysterious fantasy world from her New York City home in a classic isekai tale, as seen in many manga and anime.
